Pendulum Space houses 3 studios available at competitive rates. This includes our Front and Back studios, and the Stage Studio, which can be used for performances 7 nights a week and for Saturday/Sunday matinees. All studios include access to the Pendulum Space lobby.

Traveling to Pendulum Space
The Pendulum Space is located at 1803 West Byron Street, Suite 216.
If you are driving, you may park for free (evenings/weekends) behind the building. Parking is under the train tracks only. These are labeled as "reserved" for "Guaranteed Rate"- these are available for evening and weekend parking. The other spaces are not available for parking, and daytime weekday parking is street parking only.

The Stage Studio can also be rented for performances. Standard rental rates include a dressing room, audience lobby space, a 40 seat stage, and cross-promotions with all other events in our space. Tours are available whenever the space is not in use and we have personnel on hand. See the calendar for open times and email firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a tour.

Please note, the 8:30 time is now recommended for Fridays/Saturdays, due to noisy activities in the rest of the building on Friday nights.

What is included in a rental?

Is there a dressing room available for our show?
For Friday and Saturday night performances, all studios are blocked out. For off-night or matinee productions, no dressing room is provided, and other studios may be booked for other rentals, unless specifically reserved for your performance time.
A dressing room may be rented at a discounted rate ($6 or $8/hr, for the Front or Back Studios, respectively), or the large first-floor bathrooms of the building may be used as dressing rooms.
Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
No. Pendulum Space is on the second floor, and the building has no elevator.
Is this a BYOB establishment?
No. Alcohol is strictly prohibited in the studio.
Are there concessions allowed?
Space does not currently have any concessions. Any concessions
handled by your group are your responsibility to sell and clean up.
What kinds of shows are allowed in the space?
The performance venue is suitable as a space for theatrical performances, but not for live musical events or dance performances. Any performances with a musical element must be explicitly cleared in writing by Pendulum Space. This restriction does not apply to incidental music or sound that may be run through the mixer, as those levels can be adjusted to a reasonable volume.
Can I store my props or make alterations to the space?
Prop storage is only allowable for small hand props or costumes that may be folded up and can be put into a closed stackable container. No alterations can be made to the space, as there are numerous shows that use the stage.
Does Pendulum Space handle box office?
In order to allow you the most freedom with your box office sales, and to simplify the process, Pendulum Space does not handle box office or advance ticket sales. You are responsible for this, and would need to supply your own box office/house manager personnel for your production.

Can I book a longer performance time than listed above?
Certainly! If you need a longer performance time, you will need to book multiple slots to accommodate the extra time, or make accommodations directly with the Rentals Coordinator by emailing email@example.com.
Can I start my performance at a different time than what is listed above?
We can shift the showtime starting times, if feasible with other scheduled performances. If additional time is required, the applicable extra time must be paid for as a standard rental.
Can I book with other groups and do a showcase of multiple groups?
Yes, as long as there is one group who is responsible for the rental agreement and personnel for running your event.
Do you supply a stage manager to handle tech, or can we handle tech ourselves?
So that the person running your lights and sound is a person of your choosing, Pendulum Space will supply a Studio Manager, who will show your stage manager the proper use of our equipment, and who will be on hand the night of your performance to deal with any questions.
What equipment do you have to control your
Do you supply a house manager or ushers?
The box office capacity of a house manager must be handled by your own personnel, but the Venue Manager will be able to handle usher duties and direct audience traffic.
Does Pendulum Space do any marketing for our shows?
Pendulum Space does no promotions for your performances. Signage is allowed on the night of your shows only, and any other promotional materials allowed in the space will be allowed at Pendulum Space's discretion
Does Pendulum Space require a deposit?
Yes, Pendulum Space requires a $100 security deposit for every rental, which will be returned within one week of the last date of your contract, if there are no damages to Pendulum Space or other reason to retain your deposit. This is required for all rentals.
How do I request a specific date?
Check the rentals calendar above to make sure the time is open in the calendar, then send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and put in a request.
